frances marie creates fragrances for when your confidence needs a spark, a reset, or a reminder.
Black women are the largest fragrance buyers in the U.S., spending over $152 million annually yet they’re barely seen in perfume ads or beauty aisles. We exist to change that. We center Black women not just in our visuals, but in our formulas, stories, and strategy, because representation is more than visibility...it’s respect, recognition, and long overdue.
Our debut fragrance, True, was crafted after asking over 300 Black women what they wanted in a scent. The result? A bold, mood-lifting blend of citrus, jasmine, and amber, notes scientifically proven to boost confidence and uplift your mood. True doesn’t just smell good; it’s designed to help you feel good.
We’re for women who make people uncomfortable for all the right reasons. The ones who take up space, stopped asking for permission, and live on their own terms. Our scents don’t blend in, they bring you back to yourself.
Our namesake, Frances Marie Porter, was just 15 when she said no to marrying because she was pregnant—a bold act of self-determination in 1950. We carry that same essence, saying no to shrinking, silencing, or softening who we are.
